PAC was founded around seven years ago by long-time KPFK listener sponsors, volunteers, programmers and staff who were becoming increasingly alarmed at the direction that our free speech radio station was taking.

From 1995 through June 1997 a by-laws sub-committee met twice a week to formulate "Proposed Bylaws for KPFK and other Pacifica Radio Stations." Since then these by-laws have been given to all local advisory board members and to members and officers of the Pacifica National Board/corporation without effect.

Because of the gag-rule policy there has been no broad ranging on air discussion of our proposal with listener sponsors, Pacifica dissidents, programmers, staff, local advisory board members and station management. It is our belief that at the core of the on-going and current crisis with Pacifica Radio is the structure of an insular and self-perpetuating National Board. Welcome!
